Symposium Aims

New Zealand conference company onCue initiated the Symposium which is now being planned by a committee comprising the Nelson Wellness Cluster, Nelson Regional Economic Development Agency, Nelson Tasman Tourism and onCue.

The symposium will set the scene for the operational and strategic development of Wellness Tourism in New Zealand, and

• Inspire people & provide a framework to get ready for the wellness tourist
• Involve & move people to action
• Educate & benchmark
• Provide tools for operators and organisations wanting to prepare for the wellness tourist
• Strengthen current networks and establish new partnerships
• Put New Zealand on the path to establishing itself as a leader in Wellness Tourism in the southern hemisphere

Desired outcomes

Get New Zealand ready for the wellness tourist through

• The formation of a national wellness tourism network
• The formation of a clear wellness tourism strategy
• Identifying wellness tourism as a key opportunity for reaching the targets of the New Zealand Tourism Strategy: namely seasonality, and environmental and economic sustainability
• Showcasing Nelson as an example of a wellness destination where a regional cluster is driving economic development
• Sending delegates home with a taste of a wellness experience
